Our recent project with the Vernaci residence in Clarkston, Michigan, was a true labor of love. TJ and Amanda, known for their passion for home design and DIY, trusted us to bring their exterior vision to life, aligning perfectly with their beautiful family home and Amanda’s creative journey with “Come Stay Awhile.”
Initial Condition
The Vernaci home displayed classic charm but was due for a modernized refresh. The wood lap and shake siding showed visible signs of wear, and the soffit and fascia required an upgrade to ensure proper ventilation and durability. Amanda’s vision was to create a seamless, sophisticated exterior that would complement her lifestyle and design aesthetic while adding lasting protection to the home.

Custom Siding Installation
Wood Removal and Preparation:
We carefully removed all existing wood lap siding, shake siding, and trim, leaving essential elements like the porch beam and railing intact.
Damaged or rotted sheathing was replaced where necessary, ensuring a stable foundation for the new siding.
James Hardie Siding Upgrade:
Body of Home: 8.25″ Cedarmill HardiePlank® Lap Siding (7″ Exposure).
Gables: Staggered HardieShingle® Siding Panels, excluding the rear deck and garage gables.
Color: JH Ironwork (SW Urbane Bronze) from the Dream Collection for both siding and shakes, beautifully contrasted by JH Arctic White HardieTrim®.
Ventilation & Aluminum Trim Work
Installed Quality Edge TruVent™ Triple 3″ Hidden Vent Soffits for continuous attic ventilation, maintaining aesthetic integrity while improving airflow.
Custom-bent and installed .032″ aluminum fascia, apron flashing, and trim for a polished, weather-resistant finish.
Porch Railing Refinement
Cleaned, scraped, and sealed all porch beams, posts, and railings with premium TowerTech2 and NPC Solar Seal adhesives.
Applied an oil-based primer and finished with Benjamin Moore Regal Select® HB Low Lustre Exterior Latex Coating in a custom-matched hue.
Gutter Replacement
Removed and replaced old gutters with a seamless 6″ Aluminum Hidden Hanger System featuring MaxFlow downspouts, splash guards, and Zip Hinges for convenient maintenance and functionality.
Front Door Replacement
Installed a Signet Single Entry Door & Sidelites with Textured FusionFrame using ISO-certified weather-seal technology, ensuring a secure, energy-efficient, and visually appealing entryway.
